Short-course off-road racing is an extremely competitive form of racing that pits 900+horsepower 2 and 4-wheel drive trucks in fender-to-fender competition on closed-course off-road arenas. The tracks are built with banked berms, punishing whoops sections, and giant full-throttle sweepers that set the stage for extreme action and intense racing. The trucks are equipped with 18 inches of suspension travel in the front and 20 inches of travel in the rear that is damped by sophisticated bypass shocks. They’ll need every bit of that suspension travel as they fly full-speed off the jumps and carve their way through the rutted track surface. The premier sanctioning body for this type of racing is TORC, THE Traxxas Off-Road Championship Series. The Traxxas-sponsored Jenkins Brothers Racing Team will be running the full season of TORC.
The eight National broadcasts of the eight-round TORC series will be broadcast on national television in mid-2009. The Traxxas-sponsored trucks will race in the Pro 2WD and Pro 4WD classes. Traxxas racer and 6-time national Pro Light champion Jeff Kincaid will race the series with the goal of a seventh national championship. With Traxxas’ involvement in full size off-road racing, the engineering for the radio controlled and the race trucks is converging to advance both sports. “Originally Posted on http://www.Traxxas.com
